How to Block Spammers

Project Honeypot: the sweetest way to block spammers

Project Honey Pot can provide an enormous database of spammer IPs, and you can integrate their script in your WordPress blog to block listed suspicious and malicious IPs.

The great thing about project honey pot is it does away with the ‘Are you a Human’ type quizz, where if you are like me you struggle to read what the text is, even if you are a human with reasonable eye site.

To protect your blog sign up on the Project Honey Pot website and complete the following steps:

Get your personal httpBL API key
Download the corresponding plugin from the following URL: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/httpbl/
Install the plugin
Navigate to Plugins >http:BL. Enter the httpBL API key and set your preferences
Check the log at the end of the Plugins->http:BL page and you will find a list of blocked IPs
