The challenge for us was the sheer volume of products that needed standardising within the search parameters so that customers would stay onsite while searching for a particular type of jeans. We standardised the filter system into brand, style, colour and size. Each product had either one or multiple images and product descriptions to upload. This would have been complicated and time consuming for our small business client, so we took care of the initial volume of data entry to get them started. That way they could still get on with running the shop while the site was being built.
With an hour or two of training post launch, our client was able to take on the role of updating the stock, and data entry in house.
Retail Website Design
As far as the design was concerned we didn’t have much wriggle room as Big Commerce is based on very simple templates with set parameters.
We chose dark blue that was consistent with Rob’s Jeanery branding and reflects the strength in their identity as a retail store that has been supplying denim fashion to Bendigo for over 50 years. We used their logo as a graphic in the hero image so that online visitors would recognise their look right away and know they have come to the right place.
